Bio
Stephan Petermann is co-founder of MISC. His research practice includes long-term collaborations with Rem Koolhaas and OMA/AMO on projects such as Elements of Architecture and research on European politics. He holds a visiting professorship at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing and is a lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He is the editor of the architecture and design magazine VOLUME. His professional experience spans multiple geographies —Dutch, English, German, and Chinese —reflecting a commitment to building architecture and design collaborations across cultural contexts. His interests extend from architectural history to film, ancient urbanism, and food systems research.
Marieke van den Heuvel is co-founder of MISC. She studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven and holds a master's degree in Cultural and Social Anthropology from VU University Amsterdam. In her eleven years at Inside Outside she worked on projects including Seattle Central Library (OMA, 2004) and Qatar National Library (OMA, 2017). She previously taught at TU Delft's Department of Architecture, in the program's circular component for interior design and currently teaches at Design Academy Eindhoven. Recent interest mainly focus on circular design strategies and bridging theory and practice in sustainable design.
