After more than 10 years of preparation, a new type of cultural institution solely focused on night culture will be created in Amsterdam: the Institute for NightCulture. As museums and galleries have a long history anchored in day culture, the night remains institutionally practically unexplored. As part of this exploration 174 voices from nightlife, contemporary art and culture from Amsterdam, Europe and beyond, were asked the same single question:What is an Institute for NightCulture?Their answers are collected in a kaleidoscopic book. Together, this polyphony of answers to the same question situates the general framework for the future Institute for NightCulture. With Catharine Rossi, Hans-Ulrich Obrist (and his 'night producer' Parma Ham), Gert Jonkers ,Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli, Iris van der Tuin, Ingo Niermann, Tino Seghal, amongst many others.
